Dear reader!

Couple of month ago I discovered a MeetUp platform where I signed for notifications about the art groups in my area. I was thinking of organizing a small art group myself with the purpose of sharing learning experience as well as keeping the members enthusiastic and open to new art adventures. My vision is still under construction.

Then, a notification came up that there is a starting Digital Art Club group will be held in Budapest. So, I joined the group and visited three of their meetings. After the last meeting one of the organizers came to me asking if I would like to hold another meeting running discussion on digital painting. I agreed.

On the first session we discussed advantages and disadvantages of digital art and touched on the software user interface and some basic tools. Meeting was a success and I was requested to continue the next time.

On the second meeting we dived deep into brushes, their settings, modifications and how to create them on our own. Close to the end of our conversation I made a short demo using same brushes we just created.

Here is the result.

A few weeks later, while at home, diving even deeper into the study mood, I came across an image of a tiger.

I think these creatures are one of the most beautiful animals on the planed. So, I decided to practice a little bit more before my next Digital Art Club meeting.

... And this is what came out as a result.

Start your own art adventure and see where it takes you. And do not forget to have fun!

Have a lovely day!

In my previous post I have mentioned some "Old Master's" technique and I did my attempt to recreate something similar, but digitally. I do have a plan to continue on that path but please keep reminding me about this as some interesting ideas, thoughts and inspirations tend to fade in time and get covered by a thick layer of ongoing projects.

And here is a good example of this.

I came across a subject of "Master Study" the other day and it was just bugging me so badly, I could not hold myself.

So what is "Master Study"?

The idea behind it, is to try to understand the creative process of the other artist of how he or she was building up a particular painting, layer by layer, composition and brushstrokes.

While in college we did some attempts to recreate chosen masterpieces but the whole idea behind it was neither properly presented nor understood by a young restless mind. Twenty years later I realize the importance of this method and see a huge potential in it and a road to swift progress, almost a jump on the technical side of art.

About a year ago I came across a blog where the writer introduced a modern, successful artist with a stile so catchy, I could not resist but absorb and store all what I saw in the back of my mind. I even signed up for a regular newsletter and eagerly follow her art adventures. Her Name is Dreama Tolle Perry.

What I find fascinating about her work are the vibrant colors and very bold brushstrokes in the style of Alla' Prima. I must admit, I admire works of Victorian and Edwardian artists as well as the works of  Pre-Raphaelites and Impressionists. And there is something in Dreama's works that brings that breeze of good memories and soft feelings. You almost want to sing "What A Wonderful World" after viewing her gallery.

To make story short, while in the mood, I browsed her website and quickly picked a thumbnail. Again, my restless mind needs a doze of adrenalin and a piece of challenge. Digital tools over traditional look! The goal was to catch the mood and not the detail.

Here is the result:

On the left is the original oil painting by Dreama and on the right is my digital study.

Start your own art adventure and have fun! See where it takes you - you never know.

Inspired by old master's "Imprimatura" painting technique I got an itch in my hand and started my own journey but on a digital path. Here is a first sketch.

Browsing through the net, as usual with a goal to learn something new, I found this interesting video. An spite of its commercial content one can actually get a very good idea about great master's techniques.

Have a look.

I am looking at the art works of other artists either famous and not and see how much I have learn. There are so many styles and approaches and they all give me strength and hope for my future development. I just need to keep pushing.

Pinterest is one of those sites to do my search and drive inspiration.

Have a lovely day and do not forget to do an art work of your own!

Yesterday I made a cry out to the "outer space" to see if there is any other life forms that might be reading my posts and to my pleasant surprise I have received one inspirational note. I guess I need to keep up with this blogging and try my best to keep it alive.

Let me share with you some of my latest thoughts and experiences.

We had a large Indian community back there on African continent and since our art work is so specific it mainly touches people who are either followers of eastern culture or at least appreciate or know a little bit about that way of life. We have been doing art professionally for the past eighteen years and when I say professionally I mean there is no additional income that covers our basic necessities. In other words it is not a hobby that we do in our free time or on a weekends. We approach it as a regular job with many overtime working hours.

After four and a half years of absence in Hungary it looked like we are starting our life a new. Building new relationships, reviving any living contacts, researching the market with the hope of maintaining our art direction and overall presence. Putting aside spiritual aspects of art I did some funny digital works that were way out of our main goal and I always felt funny about them. I did not have that feeling that I am actually adding  something to the lives of viewers. That there is no value in them from the spiritual point of view. And it bothered me a lot.

Soon enough I got tired of robots, blood thirsty monsters and half naked ladies with weapons. The list can go on and on. The net is full of it and it is on every corner. Some are well executed and some not... most often the latter.

So, in December last year, equipped with this realization I took advice of many other professional artists and refocused on our spiritual values.

Next thing that I realized was that due to vast variety of projects we were involved in the past it made me some kind of "Jack of all trades". We need to prioritize and make a more streamlined consistent art.

Going through our portfolio brought up a lot of good memories about each and every project but at the same time I felt like I need more personal artistic development. I got very "rusty" in drawing and painting and some artistic muscles are really out of shape.

So, to make story short... I have a lot of thoughts about doing life figure drawings, plain air and still life to start up that old rusty engine of mine. I have some compositions in mind and internally I am visualizing and mentally thumbnail-ing them. I am strongly thinking about photo references, models that I need to find and how can I set up compositions suitable for my paintings.

Another thing spinning my thoughts is our online art presence and building solid fan base that will graciously encourage us and support us to do more valuable art pieces. I am also thinking about practical and executable ways of communication with our viewers and the ways of reciprocation.

This is it for today.
Thank you and keep coming back to us. We really need all of you.
